In a report, the World Economic Forum unveils eight potential scenarios for the future of work in the world, taking into account three variables: technological change and its impact on business models; the evolution of learning among workers; and the magnitude of labor mobility.

The world of work is at a critical juncture of change. While robotics, artificial intelligence and other technologies are developing by leaps and bounds, the profile of the worker is evolving and requires other types of knowledge and skills.

The aim of the study is not to make a prediction but to create a basis for discussion among world leaders to help visualize how these variables will affect the labor market and thus guide decision-making.

“It is imperative that governments, businesses and academic institutions consider how to proactively shape a new and positive future of work, the future we want and not the one that is created by inertia,” says the World Economic Forum.
